ISO 26000

Verification of organisations' social responsibility

ISO 26000 is a guiding standard for sustainability and corporate social responsibility that can be applied by organisations of all sectors and sizes. Working to the standard provides a structured basis for contributing to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and integrating sustainability issues into business operations. At the heart of ISO 26000 are seven principles - accountability, transparency, ethics, respect for stakeholders, compliance with the law, international standards and human rights - which are at the centre of your work on social responsibility.

Organisations that want to demonstrate their commitment can use a self-declaration according to SIS/TS 2, which describes and assesses their social responsibility work. C1 Certification offers impartial verification of the self-declaration - proof that the sustainability work is transparent, relevant and reliable. In other words: ISO 26000 is the framework and the self-declaration is the way to show how the organisation complies with it and the verification strengthens the legitimacy towards the outside world.

It provides benefits such as:

  • Enhanced sustainability profile - verification increases the credibility of your corporate social responsibility communication.
  • Better control and governance - clear overview of impact, targets and areas for improvement.
  • Compliance - supporting the fulfilment of laws, standards and stakeholder expectations.
  • Business value - sustainability work becomes measurable, strategic and can be translated into value.
  • Verification creates transparency and increases trust with customers, partners and investors.
