ISO 9001:2026
A new quality standard for management systems is coming soon.
A new edition of ISO 9001 is planned for publication in 2026, replacing the current ISO 9001:2015. The revision involves clarifications and tighter requirements in areas such as leadership, risk management, digitalisation, and ethics and governance, while the standard's structure continues to be harmonised with other ISO standards. The new ISO 9001:2026 also introduces a new, more comprehensive Annex A, which is expected to provide further guidance and structure around specific parts of the standard's purpose and application. The annex is not prescriptive in itself, but serves to clarify how organisations can interpret and implement certain requirements in a more consistent and effective manner. The new version is expected to provide a clearer framework for how organisations should integrate digital and data-driven working methods into their quality management system. At the same time, requirements for supply chain governance are strengthened, with increased focus on resilience, risk foresight, and performance monitoring. Ethics and governance are more closely linked to quality management in line with increased ESG requirements and stakeholder expectations.
The English version of the update is expected to be launched in the latter half of 2026, followed by local translations, which means it will take some time before we can implement the update with you. In addition, already certified operations are expected to receive a three-year transition period, similar to ISO14001:2026. More information will be provided as we approach implementation.
